Marysville Park
The Marysville Park will physically become a reality in the summer of 2008, when a complete makeover of the playground that exists at Marysville Elementary School located at 7733 SE Raymond St. in Portland Oregon will occur. The Marysville Park remodel will include new covered structures with picnic tables, numerous play structures, an outdoor basketball court, an athletic field, naturescaping, and ten fourty foot diameter grass mounds that will provide numerous vantage points providing views of the playground itself. The Columbia River style face of Camas Woman will be made out of colored recycled rubber placed on top of the new permeable blacktop that will replace the old asphalt. A ramp will lead from Camas Woman to the top of a central mound where a variety of sizes of columnar basalt ranging from 2 feet to 6 feet high will surround the face of Camas Woman's son. Upon the columnar basalt will be the student's artwork that will be sandblasted and painted onto the surface of the stone depicting the story of "Tongue". There will also be two sturgeon cob benches that will be 10 to 15 feet in length that will be provided with shelter by a roof that is inspired by the shape of a Chinookan canoe. A kiosk will be placed near the entrance of the west side of the playground that will provide information about the overall design of the playground.
